‘Kid’s Dream’ theme for Kiwanis Kids’ Day
The Fairfield Kiwanis Club has announced the theme for the annual Kiwanis Kids’ Day Sept. 21 is “Kid’s Dream.”
The day will feature a parade and a pancake breakfast.
The pancake, sausage and beverage breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the big tent on the east side of the Fairfield square.
Tickets for the breakfast will be sold in advance by Kiwanis Club members and at the door. Advance tickets are $50 for a book of 10 or $6 for a single ticket. Tickets at the door are $7.
Money raised through the ticket sales goes toward many contributions for children, like playground equipment and scholarships. The proceeds also are used toward items for the elderly.
Preregistration for the parade is not required.
Commercial businesses can participate in the parade as long as the theme is used in the entry.
Floats will be judged on use of theme, originality and esthetic appearance. The winners will receive cash prizes: $100 for first place; $75 for second; $50 for third; and $25 for fourth.
Floats, horses, bands, vintage cars, commercial entries and Shriner entries should line up in the Fairfield High School parking lot.
Storybook characters and creepy creatures should line up on the south side of B Street and Broadway Avenue.
Famous people and TV and movie personalities should line up on the north side of C Street and Broadway Avenue.
Bicycles, pets and clowns should line up on the south side of C Street and Broadway Avenue.
The parade will leave the high school at 10 a.m. and travel west on Broadway Avenue, where the other categories will join in.
No mini bikes, go-carts or mopeds are allowed in the parade. Parade participants cannot throw candy or gifts, but items can be passed out by walkers.
