Lamb represents area in all-star race
ANKENY — The state cross country meet may have passed, but Jessica Lamb’s season continued Saturday with the 2012 Senior All-Star Cross Country Meet at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny.
The Fairfield senior, who was 38th in Class 3A at the state meet one week ago, finished the all-star race 26th out of 71 runners. Lamb completed the 5-kilometer course in a time of 20:19.
Donning a gold jersey, Lamb represented southeast Iowa alongside rival runners from teams such as Fort Madison and Davis County. The southeast Iowa squad finished second out of four teams, just behind the winning northeast Iowa team. The northwest team was third and the southwest team finished last.
Courtney Bruns of West Branch won the individual title in 18:11.
The all-star meet is held annually the weekend after the state cross country meet and is always hosted in Ankeny.
Participation in the all-star race is by invitation only. Selected senior girls must have finished a 4K course in under 17 minutes during the season and be in good standing at her high school.
