Last day of year, last day to register off-road vehicles, snowmobiles without penalty
The annual deadline for registering snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, off-road motorcycles and off-road utility vehicles is Tuesday, the last day of the year.
The Jefferson County Recorder’s Office, at the courthouse, is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, to accept registrations.
Jefferson County Courthouse will be closed all day Wednesday in observance of New Year’s holiday.
To register off-road vehicles and snowmobiles, bring the following documents: current OHV registration; make; model; year; vehicle identification number; color; height; engine displacement (CCs); number of wheels.
The annual registration fee is $17.75; after Tuesday, a $5 late fee will be added.
Snowmobile operators using Iowa public land, public ice and designated snowmobile trails in Iowa must also display an Iowa Department of Natural Resources permit, available at the IDNR website to download. The permit fee also is $17.75.
