Library welcoming RAGBRAI riders
The Fairfield Public Library will be showing “Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” as its monthly free movie Friday evening, plus it will be staying open late to accommodate RAGBRAI guests.
“Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” is being shown in honor of Fairfield’s RAGBRAI theme: “Cirque de Fairfield.”
Two visionary filmmakers teamed together to create this 2012 film — a poignantly romantic story of a young woman who falls into an ethereal world searching for a man she’s only glimpsed, but is destined to love. The film showcases a troupe’s impeccably choreographed talents, including synchronized water ballet, martial arts, aerial silk acrobatics and contortionism. Each presentation is absolutely breathtaking in its beauty and its seeming defiance of the laws of the human body’s capabilities. Viewers will leave the film feeling awed, uplifted and completely inspired.
The movie is rated PG and has a 91 minute run time. It is in English.
The meeting room doors open at 7 p.m. and the film starts at 7:30 p.m.
Organic popcorn will be available for a $1 donation. The donations help the library renew its movie license.
In honor of RAGBRAI’s overnight stop in Fairfield, the library will remain open until 9 p.m. so out-of-town guests can check their email on the public computers.
The library also will provide strip outlets so moviegoers can charge their cell phones while watching the free film.
