Limelight Lounge hosts ‘Idol’ talent, local musicians
The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center hosts American Idol contestant Michael Powers at the Limelight Lounge at 7 p.m. today in conjunction with the 1st Fridays Art Walk: “The Art of Love: Film, Photography and Poetry.”
Admission is $5 at the door.
The Limelight Lounge doors will open at 6:30 p.m. serving specialty drinks with entertainment.
Local folk singer Heather Miller and Iowa City blues musician Dustin Blank also are scheduled to perform.
Jefferson County native Powers will headline the Limelight Lounge with country melodies and unique lyrics that took him all the way to Hollywood on “American Idol” last year, making him one of the top 200 contestants in the nation.
Power’s music has been likened to that of Chris Young, David Nail and Josh Turner.
The Limelight Lounge will be his last performance in the area for a while. He will shre some of his new music such as “If I Had To” and other favorites in farewell.
Mixing genres for the night, the Limelight Lounge also features Blank for the with songs such as “Soldier’s Coming Home” and “Black Eyed Woman.”
Miller will open for the Limelight Lounge with her melodic songs which draw from her stories of love and life, doubts and dreams.
After a year of intense work she has completed her debut album, “Anchor” and returned home to Fairfield to share it with the community.
