Local business wins national recognition

Fairfield-based website Breadtopia.com was named the Reader’s Choice for Best How-To Food Blog for 2016 in the seventh Annual SAVEUR Blog Awards.

In August, Breadtopia.com was named a finalist in the SAVEUR Blog Awards. Out of a pool of over 30,000 submissions from SAVEUR Magazine’s readers, Breadtopia was one of the final six contenders in the Best How-To Food Blog category.

At an award ceremony Sept. 27 in New York City, Breadtopia was named the Reader’s Choice for Best How-To Food Blog for 2016.

While Eric and Denyce Rusch, Breadtopia owners and founders, were not able to attend the ceremony, they are excited about being selected.

“Our busy baking retail season is already underway, so we were unable to rush off to New York for the announcement, but we were jumping up and down at home in Fairfield when we found out we had won,” said Denyce Rusch.

“It is such an honor to find out how much our site is helpful to people who want to get started in or learn more about making artisan bread,” she continued. “We are very grateful to SAVEUR Magazine for organizing these awards. It is an inspiration for all of us at Breadtopia to know that so many people value our work. It makes us even happier to continue exploring the world of artisan baking ourselves and help other bakers and would-be bakers along the way. The recognition we get from this can only help spread the word on how satisfying good baking can be.”

Founded in Fairfield in 2006, Breadtopia.com has become a top online destination for the growing number of people interested in learning how to bake healthy, delicious, artisanal bread at home. The site consists of hundreds of pages of recipes, how-to articles, video tutorials, and a lively online forum where new and veteran baking enthusiasts trade information about their craft.
