Lockridge Fun Day SaturdayFun run/walk, parade, food, entertainment, prizes and more
LOCKRIDGE — The 36th annual Lockridge Fun Day is set for Saturday, with the theme “Let’s Go Fishing.”
The day begins with breakfast served by the Boy Scouts at 7 a.m.
Check-in and late registration for a fun run/walk is from 7-7:45 a.m., and the event begins at 8 a.m., after the presentation of the flag. Awards will be presented at 9:15 a.m.
The parade line up begins at 9:15 a.m., and the parade begins at 10 a.m. The Fairfield Middle School Marching Band, under the direction of FMS band instructor Mary Andersen, is scheduled to be participating in the parade again this year.
Following the parade, emerging country artist Mitch Goudy will be performing from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Goudy, a 2013 Fairfield High School graduate and the son of Joe and Diane Goudy of Fairfield, has roots for authentic country music. His interest in country music started when he first picked up a guitar after suffering a traumatic knee injury that would forever limit his ability to play sports. Since then, he has been rocking stages around the region. He’s performed on big stages around Iowa, at local bars and clubs, and he has opened for top acts around the country including Joe Nichols. He played at the Iowa State Fair in August: with the Mitch Goudy Band at the Susan Knap Amphitheater and solo, with his guitar, at the Fairview Stage.
Lockridge Fun Day events also will include lunch served by the Lockridge Fire Department at 11 a.m., a pedal-tractor pull, sponsored by the Lockridge Lions Club, at noon, and water fights at 1 p.m.
A petting zoo, a backseat driver contest and a display of the fire department’s trucks also are planned.
The Lockridge Lions Club will be selling numbered Fun Day buttons for drawings for prizes throughout the day.
