Magician Keith West’s assistant Kitty Marie pokes her head out the side of a box he levitates during the Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk magic competition Friday evening at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts. A panel of judges named West, who is from the Des Moines area, winner of the competition. Fairfield’s own Jesus Rios, known as Mr. Illusion, placed second, and Fairfield magician Fred Swartz placed third. Swartz was master of ceremonies with a host of magical and comedic surprises.
