Maharishi School speech teams advance
Maharishi School speech teams competed in the Iowa High School Speech Association district competition Saturday in Keota.
All teams received 1 ratings and are headed to state competition. The entries include a ninth-grade choral reading, upper school choral reading, one-act play, reader’s theater, ensemble acting, musical theater, short film and three group improv teams.
All of the entries will perform Feb. 23, 24, with a matinee Feb. 25 at Spayde Theater on the Maharishi University of Managment campus.
Speech teacher Ben Estey commented, “I was very happy to see everyone pull together and support each other on the day of competition, and I was very happy to have so much support from our assistant coaches, parents, teachers and administrators without which our program would not be possible. I also received positive feedback from several contest managers and coaches form other schools who appreciated our entries, which is always nice to hear.”
