Man in Lockridge dies from gunshot
A man in Lockridge died from a gunshot wound he sustained Wednesday night.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a male subject shot at 105 W. Main St. in Lockridge Wednesday. Upon arriving at approximately 11:15 p.m., authorities found David L. Bittner, 46, unresponsive due to a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Bittner died late Wednesday night at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield. Arrangements for his funeral are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.
The investigation into his death is ongoing and no charges have been filed. Assisting the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were Lockridge QRS, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Reserve, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, Mount Pleasant Police Department and Midwest Ambulance.
