Mary A. Shanstrom
Mary A. Shanstrom, 92, of Fairfield, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.
A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, with the Rev. Bill Morehouse officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery in rural Libertyville.
Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.
Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 200 North 28th St., Lot 94, Fairfield 52556.
Mrs. Shanstrom was born May 21, 1921, in rural Batavia, the daughter of William Earl and Flossie Knox Crawford. She married Richard R. Shanstrom March 9, 1940, in Des Moines. He died March 20, 1982.
The couple farmed in Jefferson County and lived several years in Libertyville. She moved to Fairfield following her husband’s death.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.
She was a member of Libertyville Travelers Club.
Survivors include two sons, Gifford Shanstrom and spouse Donna Miles of Fairfield and Gayle Shanstrom and spouse Kathy of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Shirley Diamond of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ila Mae Bradshaw of Fairfield, Virginia Conn of Eugene, Ore., and Lucille Davis of Grinnell.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents; a son, Gary Shanstrom; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Wayne, Bud and Bill Crawford; and one sister, Maureen Hogan.
