Meet the Trojans kicks off fall season FridayVolleyball, football teams to hold scrimmages
The Trojans are ready to kick off the fall sports season.
Fairfield High School’s annual Meet the Trojans night is scheduled for Friday and will begin at 4:30 p.m. with football team pictures. The football team will have a busy night, as will all of the athletes participating in fall sports.
Volleyball team photos are scheduled from 6:10-6:30 p.m. in the gym, and families are welcome to come take photos at that time as well. Introductions of the high school teams will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the volleyball players on the Trojan Stadium track. The swimming and diving team, the fall cheerleaders, the cross-country team and then the football team will be introduced in that order.
The cheerleaders’ introduction will be followed by the cheerleaders embracing the crowd and leading them in the school’s fight song.
Nancy Diers’s volleyball players will then retreat back to the gym for an intrasquad scrimmage. The varsity, JV and freshman team will all be split in half and will scrimmage each other.
The football intrasquad scrimmage will begin at 7 p.m. For a hour, different levels of the football program will trade off in 15 minute intervals.
Plenty of activities are planned for parents as well. From 5-8 p.m. Hy-Vee grilled dinners will be available for purchase at the stadium. Youth football registration will be held inside the high school weight room from 5:30-8 p.m. Activities passes will be on sale throughout the evening. The Trojan Athletic Boosters’ check presentation will be held at 6:25 p.m. on the track.
To conclude the night, Hy-Vee has donated watermelon that can be sampled from 8-8:30 p.m.
