Memorial Day in Fairfield
For a brief moment Monday morning, rain threatened to force Fairfield’s Memorial Day service indoors. Luckily, the clouds parted and the ceremony in Central Park was able to proceed as planned. The 34th Army Band performs a few pieces to begin the ceremony in Central Park. Pictured are, from left, Sgt. Jacob Richard (Fairfield High School alumnus) on trumpet, Spc. Jacob Rouse on trumpet, and Staff Sgt. Kelley Ullerich on piccolo. At the conclusion of the service, the band marched north on Main Street to a second ceremony near the Jefferson County Courthouse, where a wreath was laid at the Jefferson County Veteran’s Monument.
