Michael Dean Bush
Michael Dean Bush, 70, of Ankeny, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Unity Point Hospital in Des Moines.
A celebration of life service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ankeny Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to support the Ankeny cycling community.
Mr. Bush was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Alhambra, Calif., the son of Earl and Virginia Little Bush.
He grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School and Parsons College.
He was employed by American Can Company in Des Moines.
With a passion for bicycling, he co-founded the Lake Country Cyclists in 1992 and enjoyed cycling with family and friends, especially organized rides such as RAGBRAI.
He also enjoyed traveling, backpacking, camping, watching various sports, reading and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Karen; one daughter, Stacy Williams and spouse John; two grandchildren, all of Ankeny; and one brother, Jerry Bush of Florence, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alan Michael Bush.
