‘Miracle on 34th Street’ Dec. 23
Rediscover the magic of believing miracles still happen when Meredith Willson’s musical production, “Miracle on 34th Street: The Musical,” comes to the Sondheim center at 3 p.m. Dec. 23.
In this musical adaptation of the popular holiday favorite, Willson tells the classic story of a white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus. The man brings about a genuine miracle, spreading a wave of love throughout New York City; and convincing a divorced, cynical single mother, her somber daughter and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth.
The musical features an imaginative set, stylish costumes of the period, superb choreography and the sound of Willson’s well-known lyrics and scores. Songs include “Pinecones and Hollyberries,” “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” and “My State, My Kansas.”
As a special treat for children, a “photos with Santa Claus” session will be held prior to the show at no cost. Photos start at 2 p.m.
“Miracle on 34th Street” is part of the 2012-13 artist series. Tickets are $32 for Zone 1, $28 for Zone 2 and $23 for Zone 3. Youth tickets cost $12. All tickets are available at the ticket office, by calling 472-2787 or online at www.fairfieldacc.com.
