Monthly Grown Folk Table Talk planned Oct. 11
The Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach office will host its monthly Grown Folk Table Talk from 6-7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the extension office on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
Stan Hughes, the Jefferson County Extension director, said everyone is welcome to attend and participate in discussions about concerns, community events, programs and more.
Last month, we had some great dialogue, and we all threw out some great ideas,” said Hughes. “Now it’s time for us to put together a plan of attack so that we can put things in place to take some action.”
“I have spoken with individuals about the Lego League. Prayerfully, we can get it going by December for the 2017 season,” continued Hughes. “I have reached out to a few specialist in human science through [Iowa State University] regarding putting together some family finance, family life, family nutrition and some STEM types of programming to reach ... parents and youth.”
Hughes also is interested in putting together a “nice-sized” yard sale at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds to bring people together and promote the Extension’s activities.
“So, please, let’s come together next week and put things in motion,” said Hughes. “I am excited about it and I am looking forward in meeting with everyone.”
Pizza will be served. Hughes asked that those planning to attend let him know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 472-4166 so that he knows how much pizza to order.
Hughes plans to host a Grown Folk Table Talks the second Tuesday of every month.
