More winners announced from 2014 Iowa State Fair
Area residents continued to win in competetions throughout the Aug. 7-17 run of the 2014 Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

Dwight Westercamp of Batavia claimed the first-place ribbon in the Largest Rabbit contest judged Friday at the state fair. His rabbit, Bertha, weighed 19 pounds and eight ounces.
Second place was awarded to Laura Southward of Runnells. Her rabbit, Pepper, weighed in at 17 pounds. Queen Anne, a 15-pound, 14-ounce rabbit owned by Kenneth Smalley of Bloomfield, came in third.
Fourth place was awarded to Bambi Murray of Carlisle. Her rabbit, Baby Kourtney, weighed 13 pounds and four ounces. Fifth place was nabbed by Alley Odland of Webster City for her 13-pound, 1-ounce rabbit named Willow. Sixth place was claimed by Adalie Schwandt of Williams and her rabbit, Piglet, who weighed 11 pounds and 1 ounces.
Western pleasure riders from across the state competed in the Open Western Horse Show judged Aug. 9 at the 2014 Iowa State Fair.
In Western Pleasure – Ladies 19 and Over, Katie Mitchell of Packwood earned first place.
Several 4-H and FFA judging teams and individuals from across the state competed in the Youth Livestock Judging competition Aug. 10.
In Individual, Senior, Connor Conrade of Hillsboro placed 13th.
