Museum hosting Train Days
SIGOURNEY — Dumont Museum will have its annual Train Days Saturday and Sunday, ith the gigantic Lionel Train layout in operation from 1-4 p.m. each day.
The 25- by 30-foot layout has a 6-foot mountain, nine trains and dozens of accessories and animated scenes operating at one time.
The train layout, one of the largest detailed layouts in the area, has been designed, built and is engineered by Lyle Dumont.
Also on display will be a lighted Christmas ceramic village in operation, as well as other animated Christmas items.
The village and train layout are located in the lobby of the museum, and there is no charge for viewing it, but a free will offering is accepted for the nonprofit organization.
A special reduced price for those wishing to see the rest of the museum with all the items on display as well as the 90- by 40-foot train layout still under construction. About 12 trains with lots of special accessories and animated scenes will be in operation on the new layout.
The museum is 3 miles south of Sigourney on Highway 149, and one-eighth mile west.
