ART WALK

Musicians eligible to win free music video

Apr 03, 2013

Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk announces the opportunity for bands and musical groups donating performances at art walk’s 2013 summer events to be automatically entered into a lottery to win a free music video created by Hawthorne Direct.

Drawing for the prize valued at more than $10,000 will be held at the Sept. 7 art walk.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this gift to local and regional musical talent,” said Dania De Bortoli, executive director of Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk. “This is a delightful way to give back to all of the bands who generously donate their talent and time to perform at our events. This opportunity is due to the continued generosity of Hawthorne Direct, a long- term supporter of art walk and the performing arts in Fairfield.”

The summer dates with opportunities to performers are June 7, International Culture; July 5, Celebrate Iowa: Party in the Park; Aug. 2, Blues & Barbecue; and Sept. 5, Harvestfest.

“Hawthorne Direct is happy to support regional talent and art walk in a creative and unique way,” said Tim Hawthorne, Hawthorne Direct founder/CEO and vice president of the Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk Board of Directors.

“This opportunity benefits both groups: art walk is able to keep expenses at a minimum and artists have an excellent chance at winning a professionally produced music video,” he continued. “Hawthorne Direct, the nationally known TV ad agency with studios in Fairfield and LA, has all the equipment and talent to create a music video that would normally cost musicians at least $10,000 to create. This is an opportunity for musicians to receive something back just for donating their time to perform at an art walk.”

“We are looking for a variety of musical talent with roots in rock, folk, country, blues, Latin, world beat or jazz,” said De Bortoli. “We have some very exciting themes this summer and want the music to reflect it.”

Musicians interested in performing this summer can contact Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk at 233-8883, or email fairfieldartwalk@gmail.com.
