New airport terminal to host open house
The Fairfield Municipal Airport is hosting an open house, including a continental breakfast and airplane rides for the community, from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
“I just hope the public comes out to see their nice airport and our new terminal building,” said airport manager Bob Lyon, adding that the breakfast is complimentary with a free-will donation, and that plane rides in a Piper aircraft are $20 for adults and $10 for children.
Although construction on the new terminal was completed in February, Lyon said the open house was delayed due to weather.
The former terminal was demolished in July.
“We’re taking donations, and all of the proceeds from the breakfast are going to Freedom Rock project honoring military service members,” said Fairfield resident Tammy Jones.
