New website, app connects park and rec with community
The city of Fairfield Park and Recreation Department has launched a new website and an app for smart phones that will improve the community’s experience and help everyone stay connected to their programs, parks, events and facilities.
The new website uses ReCPro software by R.C. Systems Inc. in Michigan to offer easy online registration and family account management. Site content was developed by Web Marketing Star LLC of Fairfield with many photos by local photographer Werner Elmker. Containing nearly 50 pages and 200 photos, the user-friendly website includes calendars, schedules, maps, photos, upcoming events, and Roosevelt Community Center membership information.
Residents can reserve a park shelter, reserve a racquetball or wally court, or sign up for programs, sports, races, leagues, camps, craft days and more.
The address is www.FairfieldParksandRec.org.
Android and Apple (iPhone) are the most popular types of smartphones, dominating 91 percent of the market. Appsolootly LLC of Fairfield created a “Fairfield Parks and Rec” mobile application that runs on these phones.
The app puts upcoming events and classes, rewards and event photos at the user’s fingertips. The “game-changing” feature of the app is push notifications. App users can receive closings, cancellations, reminders and special updates “pushed” prominently to their smart phones.
In order to keep the community connected, the new website and app have links to Facebook and email list signup. Emails are privately delivered to subscribers from Fairfield Park and Recreation Department once or twice per week with upcoming events, programs and announcements.
