Offices, businesses close for Thanksgiving
Thursday is Thanksgiving, a federal holiday, and many area schools, offices and businesses will be closed.
Fairfield Community School District will dismiss early at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. No classes will be held Thursday or Friday.
Pekin Community School District will have Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Cardinal Community School District will not have classes Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The district also will not have classes Nov. 28; teachers professional development is planned.
Van Buren Community School District will not have school Thursday or Friday.
Fairfield City Hall will be closing at noon Wednesday and remain closed Thursday and Friday.
Jefferson County Courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday.
The U.S. Postal Service is closed Thursday, and regular mail is not delivered on Thanksgiving.
Fairfield Public Library is closing early at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday. The library will resume regular hours Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fairfield’s Roosevelt Community Recreation Center and the Roosevelt Aquatic Center will be closed Thursday. The rec center and pool will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and then 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
Waste Management is closed Thursday. Trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day.
Senior meal sites are closed Thursday and Friday, and no meals will be served.
The Fairfield Ledger newspaper office is closed Thursday, and no paper will be published. The newspaper office will reopen Friday, and a paper will be published.
Other offices and businesses could be closed, and regularly scheduled meetings and activities could be canceled; call ahead to check schedules.
