‘One Night with the King’ setSign up by Wednesday to participate in an Elvis look-alike contest before the show.
“One Night with the King” will showcase the greatest moments of Elvis’s musical and acting career through a live musical production at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.
The show features a full band highlighting Elvis’s early career as he broke into the business at Sun Records, his introduction to the nation on the biggest television shows of the times, through the greatest musical moments of the King of Rock and Roll. From the gold Lamé jackets to the rhinestone studded jumpsuit of Las Vegas and everything in between, “One Night with the King” has it all.
The show will take the audience on a journey through Elvis’s career. Highlighted by the King of Rock and Roll’s introduction to the world in the 1950s, the hits from some of his 33 movies, the famous 1968 television appearance that marked his return to live performances and the concert years symbolized by the powerful vocals, high energy stage performances and the legendary jumpsuits.
The show stars Brandon Bennett, named the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion by Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. Bennett has starred in “The Elvis Story” and has most recently performed with the Chicago cast of the Broadway and international hit musical “Million Dollar Quartet.”
A “Be the King” Elvis look-alike contest is planned before the show, starting at 6 p.m. Participants can dress to impress and show off their moves for a chance to win a prize package of two Artist Series 2012-13 tickets and a bottle of Cedar Valley wine.
