P.E.O. Clubs; Relay for Life team
P.E.O. chapters meeting
Personal trainer and fitness entrepreneur Susie Hathaway will speak to Fairfield P.E.O. chapters C, HA, MB and OO at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church community room.
Unaffiliated and inactive P.E.O.s are invited to attend.
Hathaway, an American College of Sports Medicine-certified personal trainer, will give a presentation on exercises that can help prevent bone loss in women older than 50 who are at risk of developing osteoporosis. She is currently completing a DVD on safe strength training exercises designed to help prevent osteoporosis. Production of the DVD was funded in part by an Iowa P.E.O. Project Fund grant sponsored by Chapter OO.
Cookies and drinks will be provided.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization which assists and celebrates the education and advancement of women. P.E.O. helps educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College. The organization has nearly 250,000 members in approximately 6,000 chapters in the U.S. and Canada.
Relay for Life team plans craft day
A scrapbooking, quilting and craft day is being organized by the Cropper Walkers Relay for Life team as a fundraiser for the 2013 Jefferson County Relay for Life.
Everyone is invited to bring and work on his or her unfinished craft projects from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Friends Church.
The cost is $20.
Lunch and supper will be provided, but participants are asked to bring a snack to share.
