Pekin 4x200 relay takes sixth at state track meet
After a solid Thursday in Des Moines at the State Track & Field meet in Des Moines, the Pekin boys’ track team turned its attention to the remaining six events of its season.
Colton Lanman grabbed sixth in the high jump, the 4x200-meter relay team took center stage. Chase Copeland, Tyler Copeland, Brody Long and Christian Wittrock combined for a sixth place finish with the time of 1:32.82. The relay team was just two seconds behind race winner Madrid.
Overall, the Panthers took 20th place at the meet with 11 points.
“We had a very well balanced team,” Pekin coach Davis Eidahl said. “When you go to the state, you hope that your team will step up and have their season bests and earn some medals. Our team did just that.”
Jared Bond got seventh in the discus with a toss of 147-07. Eric Adam finished 20th and scored a 127-07.
Chase Copeland, Long, Wittrock and Cade Millikin finished 19th in the distance medley with a time of 3:46.01. The 4x100 team with both Copelands, Long and Wittrock also earned 19th in the 4x100-meter relay.
Ryan Millkin closed out the weekend with a 19th place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:52.53.
