Fairfield Police Department arrested Thaddeus Rashad Nolan, 23, of 801 South D St., at 3:25 a.m. today at Second Street and Stone Avenue. He is charged with public intoxication or intoxication.
Police received a report at 2:44 p.m. Monday about shoplifting/theft of $17.89 in merchandise from Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store, 1300 W. Burlington Ave.
6:37 p.m. caller reported a dog locked in car, no windows down. Dog is panting, in a Jeep with a black roof.
5:53 p.m. caller reported two babies left in the sun in an unoccupied tan, with a red front, Neon.
1:51 p.m. Caller in 1200 block of South Sixth Street reported hearing two pops or bangs and something hit the house window. Two holes found in large window facing Sixth Street, possibly made by a BB gun. Caller did not see any vehicle. Officer talked with neighbors and got a description of a vehicle that may be involved. Estimated replacement cost for window is $360.
9:45 a.m. Fairfield Public Library employee called to report about four months ago, an unknown person damaged four books, each about Hillary Clinton and valued at $10 a piece. The library had no suspects or an exact date the vandalism occurred. Officer advised library to possibly move books to a more visible location for staff and/or install video surveillance. Employee noted checking around at other public libraries in the area and learned this type of vandalism has occurred at other libraries also, including in Ottumwa.
