Fairfield Police Department has issued no media statement, however Fairfield Police Capt. Dave Thomas said the police and Midwest Ambulance responded at 3:56 p.m. Thursday to Fairfield High School for a student with a medical condition who was taken to Jefferson County Health Center. Fairfield Community School District Superintendent Art Sathoff said high school administration appropriately contacted emergency services when a female staff member located a female student needing assistance. The report of a student hanging with a rope around the neck was erroneous, and there was not a fatality.
Police responded to a traffic accident at 2:31 p.m. Thursday. Jessie Daniel Saucedao, 41, of Muscatine, was legally stopped on Burlington Avenue at the stoplight at 12th Street, headed east in 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck. Kassandra Rosemarie Myers, 20, of Birmingham, was headed east in a 2008 Dodge four-door car behind Saucedao and rear-ended the truck. Myers was cited for failure to stop within a safe distance. The Dodge had an estimated $5,000 in damages; the Ford had an estimated $200 in damages.
