To the editor:
I agree with the graphics and crime statistics that Chief David Thomas represented [on page 1 of the Feb. 17 edition of The Ledger].
I also know that nobody wants to be ripped off, burglarized, assaulted or be the victim of a home invasion.
For the chief to prioritize the above problems, he is doing so for the safety and betterment of the community. I urge the citizens of Fairfield to get behind the police department and get involved. Report what you see.
I also urge the mayor and city council to give the police department the tools it needs to handle the problems such as adding an animal control officer to the force.
Together we can make a difference.
