Prom planned Saturday for Maharishi School students
Maharishi School students will be attending prom, with a 1940s theme Saturday.
Dinner is planned at 6:30 p.m. at Top of the Rock Grille.
A photo opportunity is planned at 7:30 p.m. on the east side of Central Park. Jens Butler, owner of Vintage Power Wagons, is providing vehicles for the photos.
The prom guests will promenade at 8:30 p.m. at Morning Star Studio. The building’s architectural renovations are from 1947 so it’s perfect for the theme, according to Annalisa Miller.
The prom decorations include many vintage movie posters from the 1940s courtesy of Anthony Jobbe, owner of Dharmasala, Dale Stephens, owner of artfiftytwo.com and Jewel McDonald, owner of Morning Star Studio.
Some of the girls will be wearing vintage dresses. Pat Crimm offered her collection of vintage jewelry and evening bags to the girls as well.
Preparation included swing dance lessons. A student band will play some big-band era music. The DJ is Daniel Starr.
The event is put on by parents and students, not the school.
