Public meeting focus on alcohol, drugs
The Jefferson County Alcohol Consumption Task Force will host a public meeting on “Consequences of Alcohol and Drugs” Jan. 23 at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
The task force invites area parents and youth to the panel discussion.
Registration and refreshments are at 6:30 p.m. The meeting starts at 7 p.m., and will be followed by drawings for door prizes.
This “personal stories” presentation speaks of real experiences with drugs and alcohol and the aftereffects. The panelists will share stories of the deaths of friends and loved ones, prison sentences, loss of privelidges, health issues, civil penalties and remorse.
Parents will learn of available resources and community assistance in guiding them through substance-abuse problem solving.
