Tracy Vance, center, won the informal competition known as a “sew down” Oct. 5 during the Northside Strippers Quilt Club quilt show by sewing his quilt faster than anyone else. The other participants were Ed Malloy and Lee Muntz. Each person chose a nonprofit to receive the quilt he made that day, with a little help from the club members. The participants also picked out their own fabrics. Vance chose Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter to receive his quilt. Malloy chose The Nest and Muntz chose the Heartland Pregnancy Center in Ottumwa.
