Reader’s theater focuses on Midwest farming stories
The Farmscape Reader’s Theatre will hold a performance and discussion from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Cambridge Room as part of the 2013 Ecofairfield Festival.
“Farmscape: Documenting the Changing Rural Environment” by Iowa Poet Laureate Mary Swander documents the stories and perspectives of Midwestern farmers, and the changes to rural communities in the last 40 years. The conversation comes back home to Jefferson County, with audience discussion and story sharing led by Swander.
The cast includes Jeffrey Hedquist, Jim Rubes, Francis Thicke, Patrick Bosold, Joy Salmon, Jacob Kriger, Heidi Salmonson and Randy Dillon.
Seating is limited. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
The reading includes some profanity.
A keynote talk titled “Celebrating Local Community” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Public Library. The event is open to the public.
