Reck Show Cattle wins at fair; Goudy set to perform
Reck Show Cattle of Fairfield was among those recognized for their top quality cattle in the Beef Feeder Calf show judged Saturday at the 2013 Iowa State Fair.
Reck Show Cattle showed the Reserve Champion Simmental Heifer, and placed first in Foundation Simmental Heifers; first in Simmental Heifers; and third in Top Five Market Animals.
Fairfield native Mitch Goudy, along with the Mitch Goudy Band, will perform at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Susan Knap Amphitheater.
Goudy, a 2013 Fairfield High School graduate and the son of Joe and Diane Goudy of Fairfield, wrote on his FaceBook page he is “looking forward to seeing some Iowa fans out there.”
Goudy also performed solo, with his guitar, Friday at the Fairview Stage at the state fair.
“Met some awesome new fans,” he wrote on this FaceBook page.
Goudy has roots for authentic country music. His interest in country music started when he first picked up a guitar after suffering a traumatic knee injury that would forever limit his ability to play sports. Since then, he has been rocking stages around the region. He’s performed on big stages around Iowa, at local bars and clubs, and he has opened for top acts around the country including Joe Nichols.
The 2013 Iowa State Fair continues through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Des Moines.
