Dec 30, 2013

The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a hazardous weather advisory for portions of north central Illinois, northwest Illinois, west central Illinois, east central Iowa, northeast Iowa, southeast Iowa, including Jefferson County and northeast Missouri.

A storm system will move through the midwest this afternoon and evening bringing accumulating snow to the area. Current information suggests an inch of snow north of Interstate 80, and 1 to 2 inches in the highway 20 corridor. South of Interstate 80 amounts will be less than an inch.

Accumulating snow is expected to overspread the outlook area Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night as a storm system moves east from the Rockies through the mid-Mississippi Valley.

Several inches of accumulation is possible over the entire outlook area, which may result in hazardous travel conditions. Continue to monitor later outlooks and forecasts.

Dangerously cold wind chills of 20 to 30 below zero are possible Thursday night and early Friday morning.
