Relay for Life location, time changes
Due to the pending weather forecast, the location and schedule has been changed for the Jefferson County Relay for Life set for Saturday.
The annual event has been relocated to the Fairfield Middle School. It previously had been set to be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
The start and end times for the event also have been changed. The opening ceremonies will be at 1 p.m., and the closing ceremony and final lap will be at 10 p.m.
“It was not an easy decision, but yet we felt that due to two days of cold and rain prior to relay and the possibility of the same on Saturday, it was best to change to an inside location now rather than scramble come Friday night or Saturday morning,” said relay organizer Kortney Heald. “We would rather change location and have the community come out to support this event than to keep the location and people stay home due to the weather.”
Heald said the activities planned during the relay have been squeezed into the new hours, except for the campfire, which will not be held.
An updated schedule is in today’s edition of The Ledger and posted on the website at www.ffledger.com.
