Repp makes All-Conference in Mt. PleasantTrojans finish in third place at meet
The Fairfield girls’ golf team finished in third place at the Southeast Conference tournament Tuesday in Mt. Pleasant.
Courtney Mabeus of Mt. Pleasant won the tournament by shooting an 82 on the day.
Lindsey Repp, now ranked No. 24 in Class 4A, led Fairfield by shooting an 89, which was good enough for second at the meet. She was the only Trojan that made the All-Conference team.
“She really made her presence known today in a group of senior golfers that have been doing this for awhile now,” Fairfield coach Joe Kruzich said. “This was a meet that means a lot to her and by earning second place as just a sophomore, it should serve as a spring board into regionals and give her a ton of confidence moving forward.”
Madelyn Swan finished second on the Trojans with a 109. Close behind her were Abby Adam with a 111 and Olivia Hammel with a 113. Kylee Marlay (125) and Taylor Marlay (133) rounded out the Fairfield line-up.
“As young as we are as a team, this was a valuable experience against some experienced competition in our conference,” Kruzich said. “Our team total improved by 38 strokes and each of the returning members saw a significant improvement in their scores from last year.”
