Respect Life Sunday coming up
To the editor:
Sunday, January 19, is Respect Life Sunday. This is a time to pause and reflect on what has happened in our country since the 1973 Supreme Court decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which legalized the taking of the life of an unborn child (commonly called abortion) up to the day prior to birth.
It is estimated we have lost 50 million people as a result of these court decisions. This is mind-boggling, incomprehensible!
A Midwest March for Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18 on the west steps of the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. For more information go to www.iowartl.org and click on the Events tab.
Current surveys indicate that the majority of Americans now say they are pro-life. Let’s put an end to the “need” for abortion by supporting crisis pregnancy centers such as Heartland Pregnancy Center in Ottumwa or Cradle of Hope in Mt. Pleasant, which is meeting the needs of women who find themselves facing unplanned pregnancies.
