Retired School Personnel, VFW Auxiliary, Clover Kids
JEFFERSON COUNTY RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL
The Jefferson County Retired School Personnel will hold a luncheon at noon Wednesday at the McElhinny House.
Hostesses will be Norine Septer, chairwoman, and Marian DeVore. The program that will be presented will be “Aquaphonics” by Russ Rebling.
VFW LADIES AUXILIARY
The Ladies Auxiliary to Dimmitt-Vorhies Post 2271 met April 8 at the post home, with nine members present.
The charter was draped for E. Maxine Peck. The memorial in her name will be sent to the Polishville Association Inc.
Year-end reports were mailed.
The election was held. Joyce Countryman will remain auxiliary president.
Deb Rowe will be installing officer at the May meeting. All auxiliary sisters are invited to attend the installation.
The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. May 13 at the post home.
JEFFERSON COUNTY FAIRFIELD 4-H CLOVER KIDS
The Jefferson County Fairfield 4-H Clover Kids met April 11 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.
Twelve members were present. They made bird feed packets as a project and learned facts about apples and oranges.
Groups were formed to study Iowa road maps. Members were asked to choose different towns, plan a route, write lists of highway traveled and towns traveled through. They also determined the number of miles traveled.
Members were given the opportunity to choose containers, plastic or silk flowers, to arrange and enter at the 2013 Greater Jefferson County Fair. Each could choose flower seeds to plant in the spring.
Apple slices, cookies and drinks were served to the group.
Helpers with the evening activities were Karen Crossland, Phyllis Harris, Eileen and Heather Pickard, Leland and Shirley Stanley.
Invitations were handed out to members and families for an open house planned for 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Jefferson County ISU Extension Office to honor Shirley Stanley retiring as office assistant and Lona Harbison retiring as office manager.
The next Clover Kids meeting is scheduled for 5:15-6:15 p.m. May 9 at the fairgrounds activity building. At this meeting, members will be receiving sign-up sheets and information for entries in the county fair.
