Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy and Beautification Commission Chairwoman Nancy Horras cut the ribbon to dedicate the Fairfield entrance sign on Highway 1 south Saturday morning. The sign is the culmination of nearly five years work, from inception in 2007 to the final planting of trees this fall. Speaking at the event before a crowd of about 30 individuals were Horras, Malloy, Jerry Long, representing French-Reneker-Associates, engineers for the project, Jefferson County Supervisor Lee Dimmitt and Gerry Schnepf from Keep Iowa Beautiful.
