Ridgway baffles Central Lee batters
DONNELLSON — Delaney Ridgway pitched a complete game shutout to lift the Cardinal softball team to a 4-0 victory over Central Lee in Southeast Iowa Super Conference South action Monday.
Ridgway, a ninth-grader, gave up just six hits and struck out seven Lady Hawks to help the Comets to their fourth win in the last five games.
Also for Cardinal, junior Carlie Bennett went 2-for-4, and senior Lindsay Moore batted in three runs.
The Comets (5-3, 3-0 SEISC South) visit No. 2-ranked Notre Dame today in a makeup game.
Comet boys win 4-1
ELDON — Senior Dakota Showman pitched a four-hitter Monday in the Cardinal baseball team’s 4-1 victory over conference rival Central Lee in Eldon.
Junior Charlie Rachford and sophomore Cody Streeby each slapped one double for the host Comets. Streeby had two RBI and Rachford and junior Kyle Kent each knocked in one.
The Comets (4-2, 3-1 SEISC South) host Notre Dame today.
