JEFFERSON COUNTY RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL
The Jefferson County Retired School Personnel began its meeting Wednesday with a brunch at the Faith Methodist Church in Libertyville. The guest speaker was Kathy Brown, construction chairwoman for the Greater Fairfield Area Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. She explained the purpose of her organization is to help further the goal of ensuring all people have a safe home. Habitat for Humanity has three programs in Fairfield to further the goal: partnering with qualifying young families to build homes, providing repair work for elderly people to help them stay in their own homes, and selling building supplies and slightly used furniture at their Restore store to help earn money for their work.
Following Brown’s presentation, there was a business meeting and the installation of the new officers: co-presidents Don and Lois Kremer, secretary Michele Weber, co-treasurers Harvey and Marge Lewiston. Vice president Marvin Septer was unable to be at the meeting.
Members voted to have the Sept. 25 luncheon and meeting at SunnyBrook Assisted Living.
