S.H.A.R.E. food packages include Thanksgiving dinner
Orders are due Nov. 2 for the S.H.A.R.E. Iowa Inc. food packages available in November.
Orders can be placed by calling the St. Mary Catholic Church office at 472-3179 or the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association office at 472-6140. Orders also can be placed online at www.shareiowa.org. The pickup date will be at 8 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.
Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.
The $25 “best value” package includes 1.5-pound chicken nuggets, 1-pound 85/15 ground beef, 6.4-ounce fully cooked pork sausage patties made by Jimmy Dean, 1- pound chicken breast fillets, 0.75-pound smoked cocktail franks, 8-inch prebaked pumpkin pie and fresh seasonal produce.
The $13.50 grocery package includes a 8-inch prebaked pumpkin pie and fresh seasonal produce.
The $13.50 meat-only package includes 1.5-pound chicken nuggets, 1-pound 85/15 ground beef, 6.4-ounce fully cooked pork sausage patties made by Jimmy Dean, 1- pound chicken breast fillets and 0.75-pound smoked cocktail franks.
The $30 Thanksgiving dinner includes all the fixings for a meal for six: a 10- to 12-pound turkey, stuffing mix, green beans, potatoes and gravy, baking mix, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes, celery, carrots, apples and oranges.
The $23 seafood box includes 2-pounds ready-to-cook breaded jumbo coconut shrimp and six 5-ounce sole stuffed with crab and scallops.
The $20 pork chop box includes 16 6-ounce boneless pork chops.
The $18 pork sausage and pancake wraps box includes 60 2.5-ounce pork sausage links wrapped in blueberry pancakes.
Participants who order at least one of the seven main food packages also have the option to order “choice” items.
The four choice items available in November are: 12 6.85-ounce individually wrapped barbecued pork rib sandwiches for $10; 5 pounds of Ore-Ida hash brown triangle wedges for $6.25; 6 pounds Perdue Roaster chicken breast; and a 6-inch original plain cheesecake and 12-ounces of frozen raspberries.
Food packages are subject to changes.
The nonprofit food-buying organization offers meal food packages at reduced costs through its volunteer-run distribution system. Participants do not have to meet income guidelines. Participants are asked to volunteer at least two hours to an activity of their choice.
