S.H.A.R.E. orders due Jan. 11
Orders are due Jan. 11 for the S.H.A.R.E. Iowa Inc. food packages available in January.
Orders can be placed by calling the St. Mary Catholic Church office at 472-3179 or the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association office at 472-6140. Orders also can be placed online at www.shareiowa.org.
The pickup date will be at 8 a.m. Jan. 26 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.
Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.
The $25 “best value” package includes 22 ounces of Buitoni chicken and mushrooms risotto, 1 pound of all-pork smoked sausage links with cheddar cheese, 12 ounces of steak strips, 1 pound of chicken breast fillets, 8 ounces of Shullsburg mild cheddar cheese, 1 pound of Cascadian Farms organic hash browns and an assortment of fresh seasonal produce.
The $13.50 grocery package includes the Shullsburg mild cheddar cheese, the Cascadian Farms organic hash browns and the fresh seasonal produce.
The $13.50 meat-only package includes the Buitoni chicken and mushrooms risotto, the all-pork smoked sausage links with cheddar cheese, the steak strips and the chicken breast fillets.
The $18 extra jumbo butterfly shrimp package includes 16 to 20 hand-breaded shrimp.
The $18 pork sausage and pancake wraps includes 60 2.5-ounce pork sausages links wrapped in blueberry pancakes.
The $21 pork chop box includes 16 6-ounce boneless pork chops.
The $20 breakfast box includes two boxes of Mrs. Smith breakfast bites, 2 pounds of french toast, two 12-ounce packages of bacon and 1 pound of hash browns.
Participants who order at least one of the main food packages also have the option to order “choice” items.
The choice items for January are: • a 10-ounce package of fully cooked, gluten free, no antibiotic chicken bites for $2.50;
• a 5-pound package of chicken strip tenderloins lightly dusted with flour and ready to cook for $10;
• a package with 1 pound of boneless tilapia fillets and 1 pound boneless and skinless Alaskan pollock fillets for $6.50; and
• a 2-pound package of onion rings for $6.50.
Food packages are subject to changes.
The nonprofit food-buying organization offers meal food packages at reduced costs through its volunteer-run distribution system. Participants do not have to meet income guidelines. Participants are asked to volunteer at least two hours to an activity of their choice.
