S.H.A.R.E. orders due

Orders are due July 12 for the S.H.A.R.E. Iowa Inc. food packages available in June.

Orders can be placed by calling the St. Mary Catholic Church office at 472-3179 or the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association office at 472-6140. Orders also can be placed online at www.shareiowa.org.

The pickup date will be at 8 a.m. July 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church instead of the Fairfield Eagles Club due to RAGBRAI activities.

Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.

The $25 “best value” package includes 1 pound of 93 percent lean ground beef; 1 pound boneless ham steak; 12 ounces fully cooked seasoned sirloin steak strips; 10 ounces fully cooked, gluten-free, no-antibiotic chicken bites; 1 pound baby red mashed potato flakes; 18-ounce Red Velvet cake roll with vanilla butter cream icing; and seasonal produce assortment.

The $13.50 grocery package includes 1 pound baby red mashed potato flakes; 18-ounce Red Velvet cake roll with vanilla butter cream icing; and seasonal produce assortment.

The $13.50 meat-only package includes 1 pound of 93 percent lean ground beef; 1 pound boneless ham steak; 12 ounces fully cooked seasoned sirloin steak strips; and 10 ounces fully cooked, gluten-free, no-antibiotic chicken bites.

The $17 chicken variety box includes 2.5 pounds of chicken thighs, individually quick frozen; 2.5 pounds of chicken drumsticks, individually quick frozen; and 2.5 pounds of split chicken breast, individually quick frozen.

The $15 breakfast bagel box includes 18 4.5-ounce breakfast bagels with sausage, which are scrambled eggs and hash browns in a cheddar cheese sauce wrapped in bagel dough.

The 6-pound Angus beef sliders box includes two 3-pound bags of 1-ounce fully cooked individually quick frozen charbroiled choice Angus beef patties.

The $20 grab bag special includes an assortment of 10 frozen meats and grocery items.

Participants who order one of the main food packages also have the option to order “choice” items.

The choice items for July are: 2 pounds of fully cooked seasoned sirloin steak strips for $7; 3 pounds of 16-20 count hand-breaded extra-jumbo butterfly shrimp for $18; 18-ounce Red Velvet cake roll with vanilla butter cream icing for $4; and 2 pounds of Tantalizers breaded mozzarella sticks for $6.50

Food packages are subject to changes.

The nonprofit food-buying organization offers meal food packages at reduced costs through its volunteer-run distribution system. Participants do not have to meet income guidelines. Participants are asked to volunteer at least two hours to an activity of their choice.
