Fairfield Middle School’s seventh-grade ‘A’ team avenged an early-season loss to Washington with a 29-28 victory in the season finale in Fairfield last Friday.
The Trojans received big-time contributions throughout the lineup, led by Kolten Webber with nine points and 12 rebounds and Cade Lisk with six points.
Fairfield’s Steeler Higdon finished the game with four points and six boards, and James Lyman contributed four points, four assists and a pair of steals. Blu Schultz had four points and three steals, while Hunter Hoskins netted two points.
The ‘A’ squad finished the season with an 8-3 record overall.
“They really improved from the start of the season to its finish,” said seventh-grade coach Tony Vandegriff. “This team has a lot of potential, and they just need to continue to work hard and get in the gym.”
The ‘B’ team dropped its finale 25-7, and the ‘C’ squad was edged by Washington 9-8.
Fairfield’s Aaron Haines led the ‘B’ team offense with four points, while Stetson Spees also scored four in the ‘C’ contest.
“Both teams also got better as the season went along,” Vandegriff said of the ‘B’ and ‘C’ teams.
