Shannon J. Woods has joined Whitfield & Eddy PLC in Des Moines as a member and attorney at law. Woods formerly practiced in Bloomfield. She also routinely practiced in the Fairfield area for the past 10 years as she had multiple clients in the area and did mediation for local attorneys as well.
Woods is now serving regional clientele from the Des Moines office.
Her husband, Ryan, is now a principal at Spring Creek Sixth Grade Center in the Southeast Polk Community School District.
Berkey’s art purchased by city of Clive
Fairfield resident and artist Sue Berkey’s sculpture “The Red Coyote” has been purchased by the city of Clive to be permanently installed along the Greenbelt Trail, which meanders along Walnut Creek and through Clive.
“The Red Coyote” was one of six sculptures installed earlier this summer in Clive for its Art Along the Trail sculpture exhibit. The artist who received the most public votes received a cash prize and the possibility of having the city purchase his or her sculpture.
Kupferman has solo art show
Fairfield artist David Kupferman has a solo show of his new abstract paintings, “Soul Psalms,” at the Gilded Pear Gallery in Cedar Rapids.
The show opened Thursday and continues through Nov. 8.
Kupferman’s work combines spontaneous, gestural imagery with geometric shapes of color and linear patterns that weave a tapestry of flowing images in a unique fusion of Eastern and Western styles. He paints while listening to classical Indian music, Vedic chants or improvisational jazz, which he says helps move the flow of energy where he can feel the rhythms, pulse and vibrating waves of sound expressed in paint.
Kupferman has had more than 30 solo exhibits in galleries and museums and is in 15 museum collections.
