SHARE orders due by FridayVolunteer award given to Fairfield SHARE
Orders are due before Friday for the SHARE Iowa Inc. food packages available in July.
Orders can be placed by calling the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association office at 472-6140. Orders also can be placed online at www.shareiowa.com.
Pickup will be at 8 a.m. July 26 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.
Several different packages are available. Participants can purchase one or more in any combination.
The $25 “best value” package includes: 1 pound of ready-to-cook split chicken breast; 1 pound ready-to-cook chicken thighs; 15 ounces of chuck burger patties; 12 ounces of fully cooked steak strips; 14-ounce cranberry Danish; 32 ounce shelf-stable 1 percent white milk; and seasonal produce assortment.
The $13.50 grocery package includes: 14-ounce cranberry Danish; 32-ounce shelf-stable 1 percent white milk; and seasonal produce assortment.
The $13.50 meat-only package includes: 1 pound of ready-to-cook split chicken breast; 1 pound ready-to-cook chicken thighs; 15 ounces of chuck burger patties; and 12 ounces of fully cooked steak strips.
The $24.50 Grill Box includes: six 5-ounce hamburgers; two 5-ounce top sirloin steaks; four 5-ounce boneless pork chops; four 4-ounce boneless chicken breast; and 12 ounces of beef for kabobs.
The $21 Angus Beef Steak Burgers package includes 20 4.7-ounce fully cooked Angus beefsteak burgers.
The $24 Roast Beef package includes seven 8-ounce fully cooked top round roast beef.
The $20 Freshetta Breakfast Flatbreads package includes 24 5-ounce turkey sausage, egg and cheese flatbread sandwiches.
Participants who order one of the main food packages also have the option to order “choice” items.
The choice items for July are:
• A $12 lemon pepper chicken breast with 2.7-pounds of lemon pepper chicken breast in nine 4.8-ounce individually wrapped packages.
• A $10 pork tenderloin tips package with 4 pounds of Farmland pork tenderloin tips packed in two 2-pound bags.
• A $7.50 package of corn dogs packaged in three 13-ounce bags.
• A $10 pie combo with a 9-inch Mrs. Smith’s ready-to-bake deep-dish peach pie with cream cheese sauce and a 9-inch Marie Calendar ready-to-bake apple lattice pie.
Food packages are subject to changes.
The nonprofit food-buying organization offers meal food packages at reduced costs through its volunteer-run distribution system. Participants do not have to meet income guidelines. Participants are asked to volunteer at least two hours to an activity of their choice.

Volunteer award given to Fairfield SHARE
The Fairfield SHARE group, headed by Claudia Greenig, received a 2014 Governor’s Volunteer Award for outstanding commitment and service.
The recognition ceremony was held June 20 in the St. John Auditorium on the Indian Hills Community College campus in Ottumwa.
A reception, with light refreshments for honorees and guests, followed the ceremony.
