The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department received a report at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday of an Alvarez electronic acoustic guitar, valued at $350 and owned by Kyle Boxx of Ottumwa, taken from 904 First St. in Batavia.
An accident was reported at 3:38 p.m. Tuesday. Dakota James McElderry of Libertyville was driving a 2001 Saturn southbound on Ash Avenue about 0.10 miles north of 260th Street when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled onto its top in the east ditch and received damages estimated at $3,500.
Eric Shane Essary, 40, of 901 W. Grimes Ave was arrested on a warrant for probation violation at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wintergreen and Highway 34 near Lockridge.
An accident was reported at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday 1.5 miles northeast of Fairfield on Pleasant Plain Road. Galen Morgan Hawthorne, 19, of 1683 Pleasant Plain Road was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry south on Pleasant Plain Road. Hawthorne attempted to pass a liquid fertilizer applicator, which also was southbound, but signaling and beginning a turn into a residential driveway at 1799 Pleasant Plain Road. Hawthorne’s vehicle went off the left side of the road to avoid the farm equipment, entered the ditch, rolled once and came to rest on its wheels. Damage to Hawthorne’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000. Hawthorne was charged with passing contrary to highway sign or marking.
