Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deer-vehicle accident at 8:02 p.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Highway 1 between Fairfield and Birmingham. David Edward Robbins, 24, of 115 Cardinal Drive, was driving south on Highway 1 when he struck a deer in the road.
Sheriff’s office received a report at 7:37 p.m. Saturday about a $700 cell phone missing from a residence in Batavia, stolen between 3:30-4:45 p.m. Saturday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle accident at 4:30 p.m. Friday on Brookville Road. Jeffrey David Nelson of 1642 Highway 34, was driving a 2001 Mack dump truck owned by Robert Ray Brown of 1829 Brookville Road. Nelson was traveling north, signaled and was slowing to turn into the drive at 1829 Brookville Road. Marlene Kay Harbison of 1445 155th St., was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, also driving north on Brookville, collided with the rear of the truck. Harbison was cited for speed restriction (failure to stop in assured clear distance). Assisting at the scene also were Midwest Ambulance, Fairfield Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation commercial motor vehicle enforcement.
