Sign up for Christmas Box this week

Nov 16, 2016

The Lord’s Cupboard food pantry urges low-income residents of Jefferson County to register for their Christmas Boxes this week; the deadline is Monday

An invitation to claim a box was mailed to everyone in Jefferson County who receives SNAP. Anyone who did not receive an invitation and is under the maximum income amounts found on The Lord’s Cupboard website at www.LordsCupboard.org, can sign up for a Christmas Box from 1-4 p.m. weekdays at The Lord’s Cupboard.

Each December, The Lord’s Cupboard distributes holiday meal boxes to low-income residents to help make the holiday season a little brighter. Each box contains everything needed to prepare a typical holiday supper and items to make a few other meals.

The boxes will be packed by community volunteers at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and then distributed the next morning to those who have registered to receive one.

The Lord’s Cupboard of Jefferson County serves as the county’s sole emergency food pantry and serves about 500 food orders per month. More than one-third of those served by the pantry are under the age of 18. Donations of food or cash are always accepted at The Lord’s Cupboard from 1-4 p.m. weekdays.

Contact The Lord’s Cupboard director Laura Cohen by emailing LordsCupboard@LISCO.com or calling 472-8457 for more information or a tour of The Lord’s Cupboard.
